I LOVE it when God surprises us, Gary. Now, my question would be, how do we place a big spotlight on this ministry so that others might learn from it, in a way that honors the work there, without detracting from the simple beauty of it? You have done that with your blog, but is there more we can do to multiply effective ministries like this when we stumble across them? I pray so.

Thank you for sharing your ministry Cheri! In a world that wants simple answers, strategies that get the most bang for the buck, you remind us that following Jesus is messy especially in the urban context. Thank God for your church for those who come and for those who your ministry inspires.

Gary,
This is an interesting list of characteristics. I'm the second pastor of a church that is eight years old. I just began on July 1. I'd love to see you flesh these out into a longer article. Or what about taking them on one at a time in your blog. Or a book! What about a network of second pastors? I'm really enjoying my first six weeks, but it is only the first six weeks!
Peace,
Tom Arthur

A friend just told me about this site and i am very interested in new church plants. where in the process are we in indentifying new church start planters? I have worked a bit with a fellow pastor (both of us are under 35) about co-pastoring a church plant-is there anyone else out there interested in co-planting?

Gary, thanks for checking us out. We have been in a period of Chrysalis and again are emerging to a new stage. We will be enhancing our site and beginning the collection of names that would be interested in starting a new church in Fresno. Will have more details in the near future.

Thanks again,
